Entry-Level CNC Milling Machine

Description:

This is a “desktop” milling machine, which is designed for entry-level professional offices or shop settings. It particularly aims at the need for CNC milling in healthcare applications, requiring small-scale 3D prototyping. In the stage of the designing process, the team that I worked along with addressed the lack of an affordable CNC milling machine that is reliable, dimensionally accurate, and can support multiple axis designs.

The design has a five axis CNC mill with a trunnion style table, in which both rotary axes are contained in the base. The spindle head will move in two directions, while the base controls the third linear axis. The organization of the design allows delicate dental applications where both sides of the material must be accessible, and the parts are standardized for easy maintenance.
